Marketeer / Marketing Executive

The Next Web’s Events team is looking for a full-time Marketeer / Marketing Executive to support the Marketing Manager in his daily activities. The role has a large emphasis on managing and writing content in the form of blog posts, articles and social media content. You will be based at our Headquarters at TQ in Amsterdam.


TNW Conference is one of Europe's largest and most renowned tech conferences. Last year, we grew the event from 3,000 attendees to 10,000 attendees per day. Now we're looking for a Marketer who can help us continue this trajectory of growth for our 2017 event and beyond.

The successful candidate will (probably!) be an individual with 1-2 years' full-time marketing experience. They will possess an exceptional level of written English (having been educated in the language to degree level), and a proven track record for imagining and executing marketing campaigns that have a measurable impact on a product or company's bottom line.

Responsibilities will be focused on writing blog content on to promote the conference, as well as both managing and growing the conference social media channels. Experience with PPC advertising (AdWords and Facebook), video content, and new(er) social media channels such as Instagram would all be beneficial.

Main responsibilities will be:

  • Writing content and creating content marketing opportunities for the conference.
  • Maintaining, growing and owning the conference social media accounts (Twitter and Facebook), as well as working with our News social media team to leverage other channels available to the Events team.
  • Editing and publishing third-party content related to the conference.
  • Creating and publishing paid Facebook and Google AdWords campaigns.
  • Managing other in-house advertising opportunities made available to TNW Conference by (including banner ads and other creative formats such as Canvas).
  • Assisting the PR manager with media partnerships, for example by providing them with content and advertising assets relating to the conference.
  • Website copy.
  • Coming up with – and executing – new marketing ideas.
  • Analysing your success and iterating upon your results.

Some of the tools we use everyday

Your experience should include most of the following:

  • 1-2 years experience in a similar marketing role – preferably in a startup or events environment.
  • Educated to BA level or beyond.
  • Experience in working independently and with small (sometimes remote) teams. You will be based in Amsterdam, but reporting to the Events Marketing Manager who is based in London.
  • A proven track-record for writing blogposts and managing social media accounts that sell.
  • Basic familiarity with Google Analytics, Facebook Advertising, Mailchimp and Wordpress.
