Are you the event manager that will oversee TNW Conference?


TNW (The Next Web) is a fast-growing digital media company operating in news, workspaces, events and intelligence for the technology community. It is the parent company of TNW Events, which organises TNW Conference in Amsterdam (15.000 attendees) as well as smaller event formats all over Europe and North America.

Being an event manager is like being a mini-CEO; you’ll ensure that your portfolio of events are executed from beginning to end by tapping into the greater marketing, sourcing, development and content resources of your colleagues at The Next Web. You’ll be part of the Events team and will operate across teams to execute events ranging from 50 to 15.000 attendees.

What we are looking for is an excellent project manager capable of coordinating multiple events, but who can also think on his or her feet and execute fast. You will oversee project management for TNW Conference, but also many smaller technology event formats that we run throughout the year under the banner of TNW (The Next Web) or TNW X (our corporate arm). These can include ecosystem dinners, startup competitions and networking events, often held at our co-working space TQ.

You will work side-by-side and under the supervision of the Director of Events as a liaison between external stakeholders (e.g. production suppliers, venues) and internal stakeholders (e.g. sales team, marketeers and sourcing team). The position will give you the opportunity to rapidly develop your skills while being coached by a team that have multiple years of experience when it comes to organising industry-defining events.


  • Day-to-day project management of small and large events (e.g. TNW Conference, TNW New York, Deals over Dinner, Stack Exchange, Afterhours @ TQ).

  • Liaising with suppliers of services such as: livestream, audiovisual, cashless payments, registration software, photography, venues. Includes drafting briefings, leading feedback meetings and coordinating project management.

  • Point of contact for campaign managers (sales-team) overseeing the execution of sponsorship involvements in our events. Campaign managers will reach out to you to execute all event-related partnership commitments for deals that we close.

  • Event management tasks such as creating a run of show for events, applying for local event permits, drafting PRD’s for floor plan design, hiring and selecting volunteers and leading feedback meetings from teams on current event design.

  • Assist Director of Events in meetings with the external creative producers of TNW Conference and developing meeting notes into action points.

  • On the ground event management for sponsored dinners, networking events hosted by TNW and other event formats that we design and execute.

  • Work together with the Events Operations Director to ensure successful rollout of software-based events solutions: such as ticketing and registration software, and cashless payments.

  • Overseeing and co-creating the budgets for individual events. 


  • 3 years of relevant experience in B2B event management. 

  • You're capable of project managing several events simultaneously while still keeping an overview and cultivating strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You're both a people person and detail-oriented one.

  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills well suited to 2017: you're capable of making someone smile simply through the medium of emoji and gifs.

  • Client focused, detail oriented, analytical, but also in touch with your creative side when it comes transforming event demands into actionable tasks.

  • A good balance between a team player / self-starter. You need to work cross-department to achieve a range of goals. At the same time, you need to be able to get things done even when there's no one around to help.

  • You live in Holland or plan to move there (and have a work visa).

  • Fluent English (speaking and writing).
